read this article on hackintoshes earlier, and it made me want to build a new pc >_>
https://arstechnica.com/apple/2017/05/hackintoshes-keep-giving-apples-frustrated-pros-a-place-to-go/
would probably go straight to arch tho, wouldn't even bother with a windows license
@QuietMisdreavus I'm glad I built a Linux desktop last year. A 4C/8T CPU from Intel, a GPU from Nvidia. It only runs linux, but I've played a pile of games from Steam on it, including some via PlayOnLinux (wine), plus wii games via dolphon and lots of software development. It beats the heck of out a laptop for speed that's for sure.
@stylus yeah, i'm still kicking on a desktop i built in 2010, started as a windows box then progressed through various states of dual-booting until today with arch linux primary and win10 available b/c i'm too chicken to kill it
i'm not really into specs and i don't really do a lot that stresses my system so this still serves me well - tho the CPU was midrange in 2010 so is probably woefully underpowered now :P
@QuietMisdreavus I read the same article. Having a couple of macs, I still wanted to build a hackintosh. Years and years ago I had it running on an old HP netbook (remember those?!?)
