imagine: you're rummaging through some #rustlang docs, and you see some function that returns some weird type
the docs say the function returns an iterator, but it's hard to say what exactly the Item of that iterator is
previously you had to go to that type's page, and *maybe* the docs there would say, or you have to brave the "Trait Implementations" to actually see it
not any more!!!
starting on today's nightly, Iterator, Read, and Write will be "spotlighted" on function return types!!!

Of course, having taken this, she immediately woke up.

We were on campus, and had just left a heady seminar on reflexive methodology, when a peculiar sight greeted us: snow glittered everywhere in the rare midday sunlight, blinding and astonishing in equal measure
and then: birds. a whole swarm of them, mobilized by the sudden snow, clustering around a tree with red berries. we stood and watched as the twittering, fluttering cloud devoured each and every berry within minutes, then whooshed away in search of more noms
corporation or a totalitarian dictatorship?
* is ruled by a single party
* has central direction and control of the economy
* has monopoly on the means of communication
* controls freedom of speech
like the owners and shareholders of google could get together literally this second and stop everything bad google is doing yeah? there's no law which states they all have to be assholes?
idk y'all don't give power to shitty people but it's also not your fault people are shitty. it's theirs and hold them responsible imo.
Bah. My compressor keeps compressing things more than the tests expect it to!
Current status: inordinately pleased to have got an hour's hacking done this weekend having got my dinky little #rustlang delta compressor up to the maximum theoretical compression.
Next up, refactoring, API exposing, and maybe some entropy coding.
Oh, hah!
My compressor *was* compressing optimally. It's just that my test was wrong!
a,b,c,a,b,c,a,b,c encodes to
Literal(a),Literal(b),Literal(c),Copy(0,6),
not
Literal(a),Literal(b),Literal(c),Copy(0,3),Copy(0,3)!
Isis Lovecruft has done something amazing again. See https://docs.rs/pwnies/0.0.9/pwnies/ and get Pwnied. #rustlang
Got a sleeping baby next to me and a suite of property tests telling me that this #rustlang delta compressor successfully roundtrips.
Also that it doesn't compress duplicate runs in the target file optimally, for some reason.

It turns out that using smoked Buffalo mozzarella on those nachos was a stonking good idea.
😋
@KitRedgrave yeah, stress doesn't make humans do things better. orienting them in the correct direction with the right skills and motivations makes them do the best they can do. stress is not an enhancing factor.
Just kidding! @kibi 's real superpower is infectious enthusiasm!!
@kibi 's superpower is contagious exclamation marks!
I decided Evelyn wasn't going to go back to sleep at 05:30, so it's time to do a little hacking on my little #rustlang delta compressor...
