Masto is seriously a game changer for me. I work in social media advertising (yeah, I know, I chose the company for the people, not the product), so I see first hand how gung ho these social media companies are about their product.
Things like federation and separate instances are huge features for protecting people social media giants simply won't see revenue from.

But like, this space already exists as somewhere special to me. I'm a pretty niche guy, and, hey, my niche exists here. Despite having a fraction of the followers as I do on Twitter, I already can engage with as many people as I could on Twitter.
But anyway.
