Also, in my opinion, the fact that trying image parsing can break GNU Social is a point in favor of Mastodon.

Well he does control the source code for mastodon so it pretty close.

Well it only breaks if you have the "storeremotemedia" option on. Many instances have it off iirc. It really is no big deal~
