The best way to use computers is to rely only on software that is open source, 100% hardware agnostic, and eternal, existing apart from space and time
@joeld Haven’t you heard that our whole reality is just a four-dimensional virtual machine?
@joeld space time becomes eternal, existing as part of everyone. :)
@ekvin kind of liking this notion of the pursuit of perfect software being one of those things that seem clean and noble in the abstract that eventually leads you down the path of human sacrifice and dark knowledge that drives you insane. Seems like it holds fictive possibilities.
@joeld Sounds like Common Lisp.
The standard defines some things at a more abstract level, like files. Conforming *implementations* exist across differing operating systems, architectures, running on the JVM, and so on. An amazing amount of stuff basically just works even if fairly ancient.
@joeld Also, it’s good thing when it’s endlessly replicating itself across people’s computers ... :-)
