@remotenemesis Google drive should be easy to replace with Dropbox, although I'm going to miss Google docs. I might go back to OpenOffice or maybe another cloud service. Maps... I have no idea... YouTube is going to be tough to quit... and yeah I'm on Samsung flavored Android.

@remotenemesis @remotenemesis Dropbox is worse than google drive in terms of privacy, IMO.

Consider own/nextcloud.

@remotenemesis

Also, re:YouTube and google play music, those are the google services I can't seem to quit.

My best alternative is plex, which is a different thing altogether, and the reason I have 12TB of storage in my bedroom.

Technically, I should be suggesting kodi. Plex is also chock full of proprietary shit, but it gets the job done and works from my phone with requiring me to run a VPN on my phone.

@ajroach42 I'm finally going rip all my old DVDs and make an RPi-based media server so that will help some. I think that will end up being Plex based.

@remotenemesis Be careful using the Pi for a plex server.

It'll work, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't have the juice to transcode, so you gotta make sure that you start off with stuff in h.246 or whatever.

Also, because it can't transcode, using plex.com to access your server won't really work, so you gotta do some kinda dyn.dns thing or set up a VPN.

Either way, it will work. I've been contemplating doing it myself, but I haven't made it there yet.
