Lesson from reinstalling a rear wheel:
I incorrectly reversed a wheel hub spacer for 8 years. The lip was supposed to be inside the hub.
I also incorrectly rotated the spring plate that keeps the rear brake pads inside the caliper so the brake disc wouldn't clear the front of the brake.
In frustration I was tempted to use force. Careful observation and analysis allowed the problem to be fixed without damage.
