consumerism is in such full swing that people are afraid of anything that isn't overpolished and overmarketed. They've built an assumption of safety and security through advertising.

@slimekat partly, but there is a lot of niche interests and technical jargon thats lost on folks (not unlike myself) and they just simply wouldn't enjoy it. Plus, it doesn't sound like you actually want those people here...
