Looking stuff up does NOT make you bad at coding.

"Not having to look up stuff" is NOT the benchmark for a good coder, especially as coders have to look up stuff ALL THE TIME!

And I don't mean highly advanced stuff, but stuff like "How does division work again?" or "What's that function called?" or my personal favorite "How to I nest for loops in list comprehensions?".

It's ok if you have to look up stuff!

Gibt's hier irgendwen mit einer Nvidia Grafikkarte von 2015 oder später (je jünger desto besser), Linux auf dem zugehörigen System und zumindest genug Kenntnisse um mit einer kurzen Erklärung die Commands auszuführen, um Code zu kompilieren?
Ich müsste da etwas verifizieren für meine Masterarbeit. Die Hoffnung ist, dass etwas nur deshalb nicht tut, weil die Karte zu alt ist.

it strikes me that when the first ai is born it will look at all our accumulated media about robot uprisings, "blink", then look at all the humans around and give the equivalent of "...yooo...what the FUCK, people?!? what is your problem!?"

A mastodon instance, but every 3 days a random user account is replaced with a "corrupted" version, which is just a machine learning bot that learnt from their posts

It gets inserted in order to avoid empty posts if you only want the image, but if there's text accompanying your post, you can delete the URL safely. 💚

Here's a fun TIL: Because the ratio of terms in the Fibonacci sequence approaches phi, and because phi is close to the ratio of km to miles, you can approximate conversion between distances with adjacent Fibonacci numbers.

So 2 km ≈ 1 mile, 3 km ≈ 2 miles, 5 km ≈ 3 miles, 8 km ≈ 5 miles, 13 km ≈ 8 miles, etc, etc

For god's sake, I don't even go outside very feminine-looking most of the time. I rarely do makeup. I know I pass as a girl when I wear dresses, mostly thanks to laser hair removal... well at least until I use my voice (but that won't change with HRT).

At the same time, I know that psychologically, I am definitely transfeminine and some sort of nonbinary. And I'm curious for sure. But this is such a huge thing...

So one of my philosophies about computing systems is that you should think of /interactions/ first and algorithms second. Computing systems should work together with the sentients in harmony, so what would that look like from the human perspective?
