@veer66 That‘s crazy i‘ve used it years ago :D but if it works don‘t fix it. I liked it nur nowadays i would go with something like react

@veer66 electron.io is quiet nice but to install a dedicated browser for one app is somehow overkill I think. would be nice to see something similar like react for clojure or SDL or opengl :D

@m3tti I don't think SDL will handle international text properly.

@veer66 @m3tti I use LÖVE in my game Bussard, and it uses SDL. Bussard is able to display Thai characters correctly as well as Chinese as long as the font you use covers it. But I haven't tried RTL scripts yet.

@veer66 @m3tti ah I see; so it's not something you get from libsdl alone. good to know; thanks. I get spoiled by using so I don't have to think about these things.

@technomancy @m3tti SDL_ttf seems to use FreeType too, so maybe it works. However, I'm not sure about line breaking.

@veer66 @technomancy @m3tti SDL_ttf isn't great for games that use OpenGL because it renders to a software buffer that you then have to translate to a texture. I used to do this because it was the easiest way to get ttf rendering. For static text this may be fine, but for dynamic text it's a lot of overhead.
